[guide]basic weapon editing

Here's the tutorial to edit media.pk2....


For Example, we will edit a 1st degree blade to a 9 degree blade..
Juz follow the simple rules
Difficulty: Easy

Step1:
open ur Silkroad folder (usually on C:\Program Files\Silkroad\)
copy media.pk2 to my documents or anywhere u want(it will serve as your back-up. Juz in case u make a mistake)
then copy it on ur desktop(this will be the one ur going 2 edit.)

Step2:
open ur hex editor(look in downloads section)


Step3:
Click and Drag media.pk2 to the hex editor.


Step4:
Click on search button on the toolbar and select replace.



Step5:
U must check the boxes exactly as i did.


Step6:
In "Find box" fill it with item\china\weapon\blade_01.ddj
And in the "Replace box" fill it with item\china\weapon\blade_09.ddj


-"the colored number there represents the degree of the weapon"-

Once done, hit "Replace All".

And it should look like this after pressing replace.

Step8:
The next thing u should do is replace the .ddj with .bsr

Step9:
Once the steps above are followed....
Save the File....


Step10:
If u finished saving the file..
Copy it


and paste in urSilkroad Folder.



And RUN SILKROAD.....

PS: close hex editor b4 u run SRO.exe

item\china\weapon\tblade_XX.ddj <--- glaive
item\china\weapon\blade_XX.ddj <--- blade
item\china\weapon\sword_XX.ddj <--- sword
item\china\weapon\spear_XX.ddj <--- spear
item\china\weapon\bow_XX.ddj <--- bow
item\china\shield\shield_XX.ddj <--- shield

Remember: U should change XX with the number of degree of the weapon of ur choice.
Those are chinese weapon codes.
I will update european weapons soon.

i would like to try it tommorow (now server is crowded and i just don't have premium =D)

but there are a few things i would like to ask ya
1.can i do the modification in isro?
2.let say i want to modify my 2nd degree bow to 8th degree bow.Do i need to have the 2nd degree bow in my inventory?or i can do the mod and buy the 2nd degree bow after ?

on ur 1st question.
if isro means international silkroad<-- then of course u can..
if n0t, u can try using my guide..
juz make a buk-up of ur media.pk2 juz in case if pk2 editing procedure is n0t d same as mine.(^_^)..."-

but dont worry ill try 2 make updates on that..
(if all sro clients has the same files to build up their client.. im n0t really a master in sro but i own a Ran Online Server and i guess the way of the .exe to execute the files are just the same....
I mean joymax w0nt change the way the files are named and arrange for different servers[ex. isro, ksro etc.]..)

on ur second question..
yeah u need to have a second degree bow if u want to see the changes u made. it doesnt matter if its in the inventory or in NPC.. once u edit (for ex. u edited 2nddegree bow to 8degree) all files are affected.. sold by NPC's, mobs drops, etc. as long as it is a 2nd degree bow. ^_^

eiii.. if u want to try it and the servers are crowded..
why dont u try the new servers (juz 4 testing-->juz create a new char there) -"for example.. try to connect on server saturn or mercury.. u can connect easy there and try ur new pk2 edited file...

HOW DO U MAKE IT SOSUN??

To make your weapons to sosun glow, just edit the pk2 media files... And don't write in big cases... It's annoying to read your message then..

u must hav an item with seal.

for example..

so if u want it SUN u must hav a 1st degree seal of sun bow first...

be careful w/ that way...
bc0z.. 4 example..
u typed \sword_01 instead of the complete code item\china\weapon\sword_01.bsr

changing that could also affect euro weapons cause china is g0ne..

do u kn0w that theres a euro weapon code the same as sword_01..
chinese sword and euro 1 handed sword has d same code but differentiated by china and europe written b4 \weapon

that code is no problem in 8 Degree weapons and below but when u change it to 9th degree a problem could be encountered..

european weapons dont still have 9th D stored in the Isro client version 2day...
and the game will crash everytime u see a euro char w/ 2 handed weapons..

i dont if this works on all sro but i do know is that it works well on isro.
